Infected with the rogue Antivirus 2010 virus?

So are literally millions of other people’s computers. I have been a computer technician for twenty years. This series of infections are the worst I have seen since the Blaster worm some years back. I have seen earlier versions called Antivirus 2009, Antivirus 2008 & Antivirus 2007. They are all rogue antivirus programs. The people who wrote them are trying to trick you into believing that you computer is infected with some other malware and that their antivirus program is the only one that will remove it.

For most people the removal of this virus is very challenging. It seems that more than half of my customers who regularly use Internet Explorer for their primary web browser have become infected with some variant of this thing at some point. Let this be a lesson to you. Make sure you start using Firefox or some other browser for your internet research. They will save you money and headaches because of these ridiculous Internet Explorer Active X security issues.

It doesn’t matter what antivirus or firewall software you have on your computer. None of them are actually stopping this thing. I have seen it on computers with Norton, McAfee, Computer Associates, AVG, Kaspersky, Panda, Trend Micro, etc…. I have yet to see one single commercial antivirus or firewall program actually prevent it consistently. So, don’t feel bad. You are not alone.

These infections create a bunch of dynamic link library files in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. These files are linked to Internet Explorer and are often times told to load in the Windows registry startup process. You need to kill the actual viruses themselves as well as remove the registry entries and damage to the registry caused by them. Below is the specific procedure to remove them.

Steps to remove Antivirus 2010 virus

There are two tools that you are going to use. The first one is totally free and will remove 99% of the infection. The second one is a program that will also scan your computer for free. It scans the Windows registry for errors and allows you to permanently repair them. You need to be able to fully cleanse your pc.

Step 1 -Tool 1 – It’s called combofix. You can download it totally free thanks to some nice tech guys. If you’re not able to successfully navigate to that link on your computer, then you’ll have to use someone else’s computer with a cd or flash drive to transfer the file to your computer. Download the file and run it. It is better if you run it in safe mode as opposed to normal mode but it will work in either case. You can boot your Windows XP or Vista based computer by pressing the F8 key during before you see the Windows splash screen as Windows is booting. This tool should restore pretty normal operation to your computer. It will probably take 20 minutes or so to complete.

Step 2 -Here’s the catch. You need tool number 2, Windows registry repair to remove Windows registry errors and entries to prevent yourself from being reinfected with this thing again. You’ have got to get it all out or it will come back with a vengeance. The viruses always leave a bunch of registry entries behind that absolutely must be removed. How many times have you heard of a virus coming back? It happens all the time.

That’s it. After using these two tools you should be back in business and running even faster than you were before the infection. Sweet! I just saved you about a hundred bucks. Double sweet! Do some research to find the best antivirus software 2009. You need to have a quality inbound firewall as well as a memory resident virus shield.

Sorry, I am a geek after all. My boss would kill me if he knew I made this website. We charge big bucks for this stuff.
